world, but have been forced into dealing with phones, a technology I know
What kinds of costs are reasonable for installing telephone infrastructure?
I asked our phone guys to rough out an estimate to put phones on 100 desks
in an off-campus building we're leasing space in (with trunking back to our
main campus switch over fiber we already own, and using existing house
pairs). I was flabbergasted when the first estimate was $150k!
1500/station is 2-3 times what it would cost me to provision 100-meg data
to those locations. Is this really what voice infrastructure should cost?
