At the University of Nevada, Reno the university webmaster (a position
currently being filled) reports to the Assoc. V.P. for Information
Resources and Technologies. In some senses this is a CIO position, but
the position also serves as dean of libraries and is a member of the
President's staff. An outstanding, collaborative campus web committee
(that would include office of communications and faculty representation)
is absolutely essential and the role that the University Web site is to
play must be clear.
