We use Uniprint and while it is quirky at times,
it gives us a Mac and PC solution. We hope to
use it in all of our unattended labs on campus but
need to resolve some issues with Pharos first.
BTW, it uses the same card as the copiers on
campus and we charge 3 cents a page.
We are only using it in one lab but it cut our
printing costs in half. Though once you factor the cost
of the workstation that controls the printer, a
NT server (with SQL server), the card reader, etc.
I don't think we will ever recover the cost of
the entire Uniprint setup but it has made our
students more aware of how much paper they were wasting.
