Georgetown went through a structured process via the Computer Acquisition
Working Group, culminating in a report that is published below in 1999.
Presently, our Main Campus has computer replacement funded on a three-year cycle
for all faculty and staff (classrooms and labs were done some time ago). Other
administrative units are following suite as budgets permit.
The committee recommendation was to lease computers, which we are doing.
However, there are sentiments to look at whether purchase is more cost effective
(still forcing replacement).
