Hi,

It seems that in order to purchase the Red Hat Site Subscription Base
Package for $2500 which would permit unlimited distribution to faculty,
staff, and students (on their *personally-owned* computers only) that
there is a minimum purchase of $2,000 required. I reviewed
 http://www.redhat.com/solutions/industries/education/site/ and I'm a
little confused and would like to know if the following is accurate:

* For a Site Subscription, the Base Package for $2500 per year provides
the Network Proxy Server plus unlimited distribution to all faculty,
staff, and students for their *personally-owned* computers. They get
access to Red Hat Network with Update Module, but they do not get
support. The Base Package does not apply to university-owned computers.

*BUT -- the Base Package cannot be purchased by itself - it has to be
purchased with an option to allow for use on university-owned computers,
either the Fixed Option or the Unlimited Option.

* The Fixed Option for WS would cost $2500 per year for the Base Package
plus $2000 per year for the *initial 80 required WS units*, plus $25 per
unit per year for any units over 80. This would allow for deployment to
an unlimited number of personally-owned faculty, staff, or student
computers (because of that Base Package), and 80 (or whatever...)
university-owned workstations. They get access to updates, but they do
not get support.

* The Fixed Option for AS would cost $2500 per year for the Base Package
plus $2000 per year for the *initial 40 required AS units*, plus $50 per
unit per year for any units over 40. This would allow for deployment to
an unlimited number of personally-owned faculty, staff, or student
computers (because of that Base Package), and 40 (or whatever...)
university-owned servers/workstations. They get access to updates, but
they do not get support.

Also, it seems that the annual fee is the same each year, and not a
lower maintenance fee in subsequent years. I'd appreciate if they could
confirm that as well.

Thanks,
Mary
