Thanks for the comments and the link to oscom.org. We've been watching the
development of content management systems with interest.
One content management system not listed on the oscom.org matrix is the
phpwebsite cms being developed by Appalachian State University
This system is open source, uses php and mysql (not ldap), and has been
developed from a higher ed perspective.
I'd also like to take issue with the Michael's comments about CMS versus
portal. Seems to me that these do not have to be mutually exclusive solutions.
Both need to integrate with the university's communications and on-line
services strategies. What I'd like to see is a content management system that
integrates with our University's portal.
