Thank you all for making the CIO listserv such a popular and successful
forum for the exchange of ideas among the 1,130 IT leaders who
subscribe to it. In the poll conducted earlier this winter, we learned that
nearly three-quarters of the subscribers are the senior IT leaders on their
campus, and that 85-90% of the poll respondents find this list relevant and
There were three recurring suggestions from the 200 respondents to the poll:
* the CIO list needs more discussions about CIO-level issues, with
participation from more senior IT leaders;
* many subscribers prefer that technical discussions be posted as summaries
rather than individual replies to the entire list;
* subscribers should review the list archives before posting a new topic
that may already have been discussed.
EDUCAUSE sponsors 28 other constituent groups and lists
(http://www.educause.edu/cg/). The CIO list is designed for discussion of
issues and challenges that affect chief information officers in higher
education: the role of the CIO, financing and funding strategies, planning
and organizing for information resources within the institution, human
resource issues, policies for the networked information environment, and the
future of higher education.
Thanks for your contributions to our profession through this list.
