Some time ago Auburn University announced to its students that the
University email is an official form of communication. That is,
announcements from faculty, deans, et al. that arrive via email are as
official a form of notification as a letter, a bill, or an in-class
Recently this question has arisen. Does this stance suggest that the
University should keep files of all email sent on its system? Of all
email received on its system?
