we have a blended model. We provide a "sanctuary" for servers and
storage, and faculty can choose to use it, or not! We charge something
for the use of the space, and the support, but it's not much.
We are hoping to have more space available, and "encourage" our faculty
to use it more as time goes by.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this question. Is the IT
to support research at your universities/colleges, supported centrally
distributed and maintained by specific academic departments. For
are servers, mass storage, and clustering technologies located
distributed in the various departments conducting research or where the
(Principal Investigator) for grants is located?
