We've been slowly moving the Internet support to Marketing. Last year we went so far as to have our site redesigned and remotely hosted. It has worked out really well at a cost far less than one F.T.E. My staff no longer has to worry about it being up and they don't have to worry about content. However, since we just implemented a portal and have an Intranet, it begs the question as to who administers that environment and its content.

Subject: [CIO] Web Administration Reporting Structures
Has anyone experienced moving part or all of web administration from IT to another area such as Public Relations? What risks/rewards have been considered in doing such a move?
