We're heavily involved in developing an IT organization-wide metrics
program. Overall, we're trying to put together the set of measures that
gets to the heart of alignment, effectiveness and efficiency across the
entire IT organization - in everything we do, from maintaining services to
end user support to executing projects.
Obviously, we've tapped the EduCause Core Data Service heavily, but we've
found a large gap still exists in what is available publicly and what we
need to tell the whole story (not only the comparable data, but a 'best
practice' list of higher-ed flavored appropriate measures and metrics that
really get to effectiveness and efficiency). Some of the corporate IT
metrics are applicable, but many are not.
Is there anyone who has built a metrics program for your IT organization
that would be willing to share with us? Even if you aren't able to share
the data, if you've come up with a core set of measures and metrics, that
would be very enlightening (to compare against what we've built). By the
way, we're willing to share our framework if anyone is interested.
Thanks in advance!

The good teacher explains.
The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires."
