We have a number of solutions for rapid notification.
Most of them are in place to work with our outsourced communication solution
ConnectED and our DR website.
ConnnectEd was a good choice for Bowdon because we needed to quickly add the
ability to communicate to everyone at Bowdoin with the option of reaching
outside the campus using multiple phone and email accounts. Having an hosted
solution made sense to us because we wanted to make sure that any solution
we chose would not be managing its company through the same disaster.
Installing the ConnectED service was fairly easy. The hard part is working
with the departments to understand all of its uses. Some just wanted to
limit it to disaster related incidents but once other departments saw how
easily it worked, many them can't wait for their turn to start using
ConnectED for their extended communication needs. Since the cost is the same
no matter how much one uses the solution there really isn't any associated
We have also included data and TV sat links in our DR/BC locations so that
we can keep our hosted website updated and send voice messages using
ConnectEDs text to voice conversion solution.
