All I can say is, the last time our Dean consulted me regarding an
incident like this, there was no relevant information in our logs. It
turned out that the emails in question had been send from a Yahoo email
account. Let's pretend you can nail down all your student email usage.
What about IM? Facebook? Text messages? Etc. etc.
The challenge is to educate the student life folks that even if they win
the battle of getting you to continue to maintain email logs, they will
inevitably lose the war as other forms of communication that are
completely independent of your college's infrastructure continue to grow.
