we have a CPO, who reports directly to our General Counsel. We have a Chief Info Security Officer, who reports to the CIO, but our CPO has responsibilities outside of IT, which is why she reports to the Law Office.
Her name is Carol Richardson, and I have copied her. Her responsibilities are largely focused on health care privacy concerns, but she may be able to provide some insight as to the evolution of the role at Johns Hopkins.

Subject: [CIO] Chief Privacy Officer
Do any of you have a CPO (chief privacy officer) at your institutions? In Virginia we are required to follow the state’s Information Security Standard and the CPO is a requirement. If you have a CPO, where in your organization is this person? Are any CIO’s also a CPO?
