We are in the process of implementing Sun Identity Manager, and we use
Banner. The Sun IDM product does not come with a Banner specific
adapter, but has a few generic ones that can be used to interface with
We chose to use the ScriptedJDBC adapter to make our connection with
Banner. This adapter allows you to write a series of scripts using
resource. Our Oracle DBAs created views for us to query for the
information we needed, and stored procedures for making updates back
into Banner. Overall the solution seems to be working well for us and
wasn't too difficult to implement.
Another option would be to write a custom connector using Java. We
didn't explore this option because the ScriptedJDBC adapter seemed to
provide us with everything we needed.
