I'm not trying to suggest that email should, only that it does given how
emailing documents around is still one of the more common methods of
collaboration. As we all know, this can apply to students as much as
faculty or staff.
Over time, as people move more to collaborative technologies such as
wikis or (sigh) Google Docs, I might be more inclined to agree with you.
