I have to admit that they was some concern on my part as to how to characterize activities for Run/Grow/Transform (and I have to admit for us there is a lot of RUN, day-to-day keeping the boat afloat) and what we are trying to accomplish, but beyond that the survey is a great tool for all of us to use in promoting the value added to our institutions.

Subject: [CIO] Educause Core Data Survey
I just took a few minutes to complete our submission to Core Data this year.
The 2013 EDUCAUSE Core Data Survey has been extended to September 27. I hope you will all consider participating in the survey this year. EDUCAUSE staff have responded to feedback from this community to restore the reporting interface (with an even better one), to make the survey tool easier to use, and to adjust the content so that it will be even more useful as we see how we compare to our peers and make the case for IT investments. I have found it to be extremely useful at Oakland. The most important single improvement that could be made to it right now would be more institutions participating.
So many times we ask the list a question. Sometimes, it seems we could ask better questions if we started our research with Core Data to inform our thinking, and then ask even more pointed questions of the list and our community.
Susan Grajek, VP for Data, Research, and Analytics, is very interested in what you like and don't like about the Core Data service. You'll see, as you go through the questions, there is an opportunity to provide feedback at the end of each section. But don't hesitate to contact her if you want to discuss Core Data.
The link for the survey is at http://www.educause.edu/research-and-publications/research/core-data-service/contribute-data
Hope you are all having a smooth start this fall -
Chief Information Officer
