Although work is not yet complete, I want to point out that EDUCAUSE has a working group that is developing a model IT service catalog. The ECAR IT Service Catalog (ECAR-SC) Working Group (https://www.educause.edu/ecar/ecar-working-groups/it-service-catalog-working-group) is charged with defining a common catalog of core services that can serve as an expandable, flexible taxonomy for use by institutions that are new to IT service management, as well as by institutions seeking to improve their catalogs and further align with peers.
The group is nearly complete with defining the model catalog, which includes three levels: service categories, service offerings, and service solutions, as well as has defined attributes and primary service catalog audiences. They will be focusing on the narrative instructions for use next in order to ready their work for publication in early 2015.
If you’d like to learn more, you may want to consider joining the ECAR-SC Review Group. The working group periodically updates the review group and will reach out for feedback as its project progresses. To join, simply send me a note and I’d be happy to add you!

If you have developed an IT service catalog for your organization, would you mind sharing a link or a document as a sample of your good work?
