We have been offering access to our Google Apps for EDU domains via a custom Single Sign-On web page that allows for both active University credentials and/or Google account credentials to sign-in to Google. This approach has worked well up until this point allowing active students as well as graduated students continued access to their Northwestern University-branded Google apps services.
Due to the API changes coming in April, we are being advised that the new APIs no longer will support the ability to have both options available. A school either will be required to use SSO or just use normal Google sign-in. Domains will not be able to allow both types of authentication.
Do other schools currently allow this "duel authentication" method today? How are you planning to deal with the new API restrictions?
We are leaning towards dropping the custom SSO since the majority of our accounts in the managed domains are no longer active students. Looking for other school's input to this issue.
