Our university system technical staff has recently been discussing redundancy issues related to the move to VOIP. They recognize the need to provide strategically located land-line capability in the event of network or power outage as an emergency back-up necessity. The question they have asked is———how does one appropriately handle telephones in elevators? The legal requirements are likely locally determined, but independent of legal requirements, there must be best practices that are in use.
