Regarding "How this will be funded?"

The Accessibility Architect role is still being designed but was approved to be centrally funded and will be living in a group of User Experience Designers who bill. We consider accessibility of new development a baseline cost of creating something new. 


Campus accessible user experience and content strategy training as well as small group consulting around legacy content remediation (focus on raising capacity) will likely be the primary work of this centrally funded person and offered free to campus using internal expertise and external expertise brought in with a small centrally funded training budget.


It's great to be sharing these ideas and seeing what everyone is doing or thinking of doing.

We're talking about the same question here.  For us the question has a funding component since IT is 100% charged back.

We’re in the process of establishing a new Digital Accessibility Specialist position, and we’re having discussions about which department and to whom it should report to.  Should it be in Special Learning Services Office, Library, or IT?  Where do you have that position in your organization, and are there any challenges or disadvantages to having it in a particular area?
